Maintained and operated by volunteers, the Pichi Richi is the only remaining tourist and passenger train on the Old Ghan Railway. It travels several times a week between Quorn and Port Augusta through beautiful countryside. There are several locomotives with different names available; some are steam powered, others are diesel. The rails were built in 1878, and the famous Ghan passenger train ran on this route from 1923 to 1956, and on the northern part of this route until 1980.
