Lake Pannecière is the largest lake in the Regional natural park of Morvan (520 ha). It is 7,5 km long and covers four communes: Chaumard, Corancy, Montigny-en-Morvan and Ouroux-en-Morvan. The construction of the dam, for its part, became necessary after the numerous floods on the Seine: we had to build tanks to control the flood of the river. Begun in 1939, the work completed only in 1949. Set on the Granites of Morvan, which gives it its seal, the dam is 49 m high for 352 m long. The lake and its fish fish are particularly appreciated by predators fishermen, and its position at the trough of the valley of the Yonne provides a multitude of Outdoor activities, including 27 km of walking around the lake.
After the 2011-year discharge, carried out in the autumn of 2012, the entire lake remained dry throughout. On 1 January 2013, the restored dam resumed its filling cycle. Since 1 May 2013, fishing and carp have been permitted, and 2015 has seen predators fishing again. And if fishing remains the main activity of the lake, it is also known that a equestrian circuit runs along the lake and that the Pannecière Dog offer rides in carriage (✆ 03 86 84 73 46).
