THABA BOSIU
The one called Thaba Bosiu, the "mountain of the night" is classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site. The place has a high symbolic importance for the Lesothans: it was the base camp of Moshoeshoe I, the founder of the Kingdom of Lesotho, during the war of 1824 against the Boers. In the landscape, it is actually a plateau, up to the top of which you can climb quite easily with a guide. It is possible to walk up to the top of the plateau, but also to ride on horseback to the tomb of the king and the ruins of his fortress.
