TAAG LINHAS AÉREAS DE ANGOLA
TAAG Linhas Aéreas of Angola, or TAAG Angola Airlines, is the national airline. TAAG was originally an acronym for Transportes Aéreos Angolanos. Created by decree in 1938 as DTA Divisão dos Transportes Aéreos, it was first transformed into a company under the designation TAAG Transportes Aéreos de Angola commonly known as TAAG Linhas Aéreas of Angola. The TAAG then operates internal flights and begins regional flights to Sao Tome and Principe and Windhoek. It became the national company TAAG Linhas Aéreas from Angola to the independence of the country in 1975 and began to serve Europe with flights to Lisbon. TAAG celebrates its first million passengers in 1986. The company grew a few years after the end of the war with the acquisition of several Boeings 737 and 777 between 2006 and 2010. With this new modern fleet, TAAG has been authorized to operate in the European sky since 2010. It is among the ten companies of the 296 black list of the European Commission updated in April 2014, to be able to fly in Europe under certain conditions. The TAAG is the only one of all Angolan airlines authorized in European airspace in 2014. Three new Boeings 777-300 ER will be delivered in 2015 and 2016. These new aircraft will strengthen its fleet only composed of Boeings.
