This is the port of Mpinda, hidden in the elbow of a tributary on the southern shore of the Congo River, a few kilometres from its mouth, which has been embarked on hundreds of thousands of slaves to America for almost two centuries. Today nothing remains of this port. The look looks in vain for a trace… only remains the memory. Vegetation has regained its rights along the various channels. It's a very beautiful and sad site. The boat slows down on the spot and the silence suddenly seems to weigh heavier.
