Charming village in Chevroches, undergoing a geological phenomenon that translates on the ground by a "horseshoe"
This charming village, a few kilometres from Clamecy, is built on a hillside above the Nivernais canal. It is thus possible to take the greenway which runs alongside the canal and to link up with Clamecy. Don't miss the remarkable quarrymen's houses which have preserved their staircases, bollards and low stone walls, witnesses of the exploitation of the local stone quarries. Finally, for geology enthusiasts, but also for the curious, know that here is a unique site in the Nièvre: the fossilized meander of the Yonne. A geological phenomenon which is translated on the ground by a "horseshoe" at the ends of which are here Chevroches, and there Chantenot.
