SILVERTON HISTORIC CEMETERY
A place in Silverton with many graves that recall the extremely difficult living conditions of the inhabitants.
This place and the many graves found there are a reminder of the extremely difficult living conditions of the inhabitants. Mining accidents were common and the isolation of the town - as well as the harsh climatic conditions - meant frequent shortages of fresh water and foodstuffs such as fruit and vegetables. Many children died of typhoid, which was a widespread disease at the time. This cemetery is still in use in its eastern part.
