SILVERTON SCHOOL MUSEUM
A school converted into a museum providing a better understanding of Silverton's history and harsh living conditions.
Schooling in Silverton first began in a tent in 1884. It was not until 1889 that this building was completed. After 90 years of teaching, the school closed in 1970 and the current museum was inaugurated in 2009 in the presence of over 70 former students, their families and a former teacher. The premises have been reconstructed exactly as they were when they were used. This museum is a great visit to make as well as the cemetery, to better understand the history of this city and the harsh living conditions.
