LE MONUMENT DE L’EMERAUDE
Monument in honor of the victims of the crash of the Emerald on January 15, 1934 in Corbigny.
It is at 250 m altitude that this monument stands as a tribute to the victims of the Emerald crash on January 15, 1934. On returning from the inaugural Paris-Saigon flight, Air France's Dewoitine D332 crashed into the town. The towers are reminiscent of the dimensions of the three-engine plane, and the inclined stele is a reminder of its wingspan. Ten medallions bearing the names of the victims are embedded in this stele. An educational trail leads to the monument and the view of the Morvan is well worth the detour.
