MONTRIDING NATIONAL PARK
The park is home to more than 260 species of birds, as well as elk, wolves, coyotes, lynx, beavers, brown bears...
One of the most beautiful parks in the province, a must-see. It is reached after driving along long, straight roads, lined with flat landscapes, giving it a little Wild West feel. With an area of nearly 3,000 km2, it includes a vast boreal forest, a strip of deciduous forest and large fescue meadows, as well as numerous marshes and floodplains. Wildlife includes hundreds of species of birds, as well as beavers, turtles, moose, elk, wolves, red foxes, black bears and a captive herd of bison that can be seen around Lake Audy.
There are many activities in summer and winter: swimming, boating, cruising on Clear Lake, hiking, horseback riding, biking, fishing, scuba diving, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, etc. There are also guided experiences with a Parks Canada interpreter, fireside chats at the Visitor Centre, special activities for youngsters and more.
The park offers many lodging options: the comfortable oTENTik tents, the original Micro-cube (a kind of "tiny house" that can accommodate a maximum of 2 people), yurts that can accommodate a maximum of 4 people, and camping spaces in the front and backcountry. Check the park's website for availability and reservations (in advance!).
