MISIÓN BUCARELLI
Mission in ruins at the bottom of the Extoraz River Cañon, founded to evangelize the last semi-nomadic or nomadic tribes of the area
This former convent is one of the most picturesque and exotic sites in the Sierra Gorda. Located at the bottom of the Extoraz River Canyon, which marks the beginning of the end of the desert before Sierra Gorda, the Misión Bucarelli was the last religious mission founded in the state before the country's independence (1797). The place was intended to evangelize the last semi-nomadic or nomadic tribes of the region, led by the Pames, Jonaces and Chichimec . The mission is in ruins and the landscapes crossed are sublime. A must see.
