VATTHE PROTECTED PARK (VATTHE NATIONAL PARK)
Go there and contact
Covering an area of more than 2 720 hectares, the Vatthe nature reserve (or conservation zone) is the first of Vanuatu to be inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (in 1994). Alluvial forest is dominated by a peak limestone of nearly 400 m elevation. More than 30 bird species of which 5 were endemic, and more than half of the bird species in Vanuatu live here. One third of the freshwater fish in the archipelago also swim here. A guide is essential for not getting lost in the park, which has already happened. A large number of agencies offer group or group days for a safe excursion.
