TISHBI WINERY
In 1882, Michael and Malka Chamiletzki emigrated from Lithuania to Zichron Yaacov to plant and develop vineyards in the region on behalf of Baron Edmond de Rothschild. The family settled in nearby Shefeya. In 1925, they welcomed the poet Haïm Nahman Bialik (1873-1934), who suggested a new name for the family: "Tishbi" - an acronym for "resident of Shefeya in Israel". Today, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren work in the cellar and distillery, which produces a brandy smoked in oak barrels. The latter has won numerous awards both in Israel and abroad. Guided tours provide explanations and information on the world of wine. The tour includes a visit to the facilities, including the impressive still - the only one of its kind in the Middle East - used to distill the brandy. The tour ends with a wine tasting session. The Tishbi Winery Visitors Center also offers a tasting of Valrhona French chocolates. Another more comprehensive guided tour is offered, with a Jeep excursion through the vineyards of the Tishbi estate: two hours in the Hanadiv valley and the family vineyards will give you an in-depth look at these grape varieties and their history. The restaurant has two dining areas, one of which is outdoors, in the shade of the vines. The family offers gourmet products under the name "Tishbi - Fine Foods by Oshra Tishbi", ideal as gifts to take home in your suitcase or give as presents on your return from vacation.
