KERATON KADRIYAH PONTIANAK KALBAR
Palace of the first sultan of Pontianak, dating from the century, now a museum and home to numerous historical artifacts.
On the east bank of the Sungai Kapuas, the Keraton Kadriah is the palace of the first sultan of Pontianak. Dating back to the 18th century, it's a large, well-preserved Malay-style log building, now converted into a museum. A guide, a descendant of the family, will be happy to give you a tour of the palace in English, for a small fee. Inside, you can admire the royal bedroom, numerous historical objects and jewels. Next door is the mosque.
