VIHARA TRI DHARMA BUMI
Famous Chinese temple, the icon of Singkawang town, featuring an altar with three old wooden statues of Tua Pek Kong.
The city's icon is the most famous and touristic of all Chinese temples. It is said to be 200 years old, but has burned down completely twice, in 1936 and 1993. This colorful shrine is considered the residence of the god of the universe and the guardian of Singkawang. An altar with three old wooden statues of Tua Pek Kong, direct from China, is located upstairs. Devotees come to pray around them, amid the scent of incense. Every June 6, a major religious festival is held in their honor.
