RUMAH MARGAH TJHIA
Tjhia's historic wooden family home, a perfect example of Singkawang's Chinese architectural heritage.
Built in 1901, this historic wooden family home in Tjhia is a perfect example of the city's Chinese architectural heritage. It was built by the first generation of Chinese immigrants named Xie Shou Chi, who left their homeland because of famine. The house comprises two large houses, a meeting room, a place of worship, and 14 smaller houses, all of which are still inhabited by descendants of the Tjhia clan. The ensemble is remarkably well-preserved, making for excellent photo opportunities.
