KELENTENG SHEN MU NYONG
Taoist temple-monastery built on the slopes of Mount Elephant, facing the sea, an important place of worship for the Chinese community
An important place of worship for the Chinese community, this Taoist temple-monastery is built on the slopes of Elephant Mountain (Gunung Gajah), facing the China Sea. It is over two centuries old. Fishermen and sailors frequently come here to make offerings to the protective deity before setting sail. The climb up to the temple is quite tough, but you'll be rewarded with a lovely view of Pemangkat and the surrounding area. Other smaller temples can be found in the city and in Chinatown.
