ZONA ARQUEÓLOGICA DE YAGUL
Part of the network of small cities that regained control of the central valleys after the decline of Monte Alban
This site is part of the network of small towns that regained control of the central valleys after the decline of Monte Albán (late classical and post-classical). Located on a beautiful hill, the buildings follow the slope of the hill from north to south. Remains of paintings on the walls and floors have been found (Palacio de Seis Patios). Its heyday was between 900 and 1200, but much earlier occupation by hunter-gatherer groups has been found.
