ICE CAVE & BANDERA VOLCANO
Area located at an altitude of nearly 2,400 m, allowing the discovery of a cave that contains vestiges of the Anasazi era
Located among pine trees and at an altitude of nearly 2,400 m, the area is home to two distinct sites: the Bandera Volcano (or Zuni-Bandera Volcano), whose formation dates back 10,000 years, and an ice cave, created by lava flows from the previous one. The crater of the volcano is 370 m wide and 230 m deep. The cave contains relics from the Anasazi era. A store in a 1930 Trading Post offers souvenirs, Indian handicrafts and refreshments.
