OLD TRAILS BRIDGE
Bridge with metal arches built in 1916, allowed the passage on the Colorado River and connected Arizona to California
Visible from Topock, Old Trails Bridge connects Arizona to California by providing passage over the Colorado River. It is located on an abandoned portion of Route 66, south of Interstate 40. This metal arch bridge was built in 1916 and put into service in 1919. It ceased operation in 1947 when Route 66 was realigned over the Red Rock Bridge - now destroyed and replaced by the Interstate Bridge in 1947. Since then, Old Trails Bridge has been used exclusively for a natural gas pipeline.
