Marine corps logistics base Barstow comprises three main sites in Daggett.
Marine Corps Base Barstow was established as a simple military depot in 1942. It has been modified several times and is now the second largest employer in Barstow, after the other military base at Fort Irwin (30 miles northeast of Barstow). The base has three main sites on either side of Daggett: Nebo, Yermo, and a weapons storage site. Route 66 which crosses it is forbidden to access. It is necessary here to bypass the site by the I-40.
