The Hakkas have long been the majority among immigrants from mainland China, mainly from the 15th to 18th centuries. Forced to flee their native provinces of Henan and Shaanxi (central China) in successive waves from the 3rd century onwards, they ended up settling mainly in the province of Fujian, before emigrating in part to the Taiwanese archipelago. This museum, not uninteresting, presents an exhibition on hakka literature and music.
