KHAPLU PALACE
Go there and contact
A former residence of the Khaplu raja, the palace was built in the mid-19th century on the foundations of an older fort, whose ruins are still visible. Restored between 2005 and 2011 by the Aga Khan Foundation, the palace has been transformed into a hotel but has retained all its charm. It is a four-storey building made of wood, mud, clay, stone, lime and plaster. An octagonal carved wooden balcony was built on the front facade, and decorated with doors and ceilings with floral and geometric designs Kashmiris, Tibetans and Baltis and Persians.
