LES REMPARTS DE LA CHARITÉ
These ramparts, which offer an unobstructed view of the entire historic city, are the remains of a fortress.
Built as early as 1181 to protect the city, they were many times modified, dismantled and rebuilt during the Hundred Years' War, playing, in turn, the role of enclosure of the monastery, city walls and remains of an ancient fortress overlooking the site. Well preserved in their northern part, they offer a breathtaking view of the whole historic city, and beyond, on the Loire, the Cher and the Sancerre rivers. An unmissable panorama to be photographed!
