Built in 1949, it is one of the most beautiful Catholic churches in the region. If its interior is particularly bare, one can only admire its beautiful facades where blue dominates. Like many other places in the region, it was the witness of serious war events. In 2006, 6 people were killed and 47 injured in an attack for which the perpetrators were never known, with the LTTE and government forces blaming each other.
