GRAND ISLE STATE PARK
State park highly coveted by boating enthusiasts, home to one of Louisiana's few beaches in Grand Isle
Located at the very end of Route 1, this state park is home to one of the few beaches in Louisiana and swimming in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico is possible here (be very careful, however, as rip currents - or back currents - are everywhere). The area is highly desirable for boating, fishing (speckled trout abound) and birding. A hiking trail, just over 4 km long, runs through the park. It is possible to spend the night there, either in camping with or without services or in ready-to-camp.
