The Sufi poet Sachal Sarmast, a bearer of peace and tolerance, wrote in seven languages. Died in 1829, he was buried 65 kilometres from Sukkur in his native village of Daraza. His tomb is a jewel of architecture. The facades are decorated with blue, white and yellow mosaics in the shape of flowers or stars. Before sunset, musicians gather in front of the tomb and pay tribute to Sachal Sarmast by singing some of his works.
