Castle built at the request of Corradino in Bobbio.
The Malaspina Castle was built from 1304 onwards at the request of Corradino Malaspina. For a long time it was a bastion of Ghibelline politics. When the town came under the protection of the Visconti family, the castle became the residence of the Podestà (the town's chief magistrate) before being ceded as a fief to the Dal Verme. Transformed into a luxury residence, it was bought by other noble families until it became the property of the State in 1956. From the castle you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city and the surrounding mountains.
