ROCCHETTA MATTEI
Don't miss the Rochetta Mattei castle, which is once again open to the public.
Rochetta Mattei Castle is once again open to the public, thanks to the Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna Foundation. It owes its name to Count Cesare Mattei (1809-1896) who had it built on the ruins of a 14th century building, the Rocca di Savignano. The castle, which has been modified several times, today reveals its labyrinth of towers, monumental staircases, rooms and private rooms in a variety of styles: neo-Medieval, neo-Renaissance, Moorish, Liberty... The postcard of a fairy tale, architecturally unique. Not to be missed!
