BETLA NATIONAL PARK
One of the first national parks in India to be part of Project Tiger, offering jeep and elephant safaris.
This national park is one of the very first in India to be part of "Project Tiger". Open all year round, it offers safaris by Jeep or on elephant back. Betla is the acronym of "buffalo, elephant, tiger, leopard and axis-axis (a species of deer)", but it also houses the sloth bear, hyena, jackal, langur ... The best time to visit is from May to June, when the foliage is less dense, thus increasing the chances of seeing animals. Hordes of elephants are often seen after the monsoon.
