OLD CITY
A quarter of 33 ha, it consists of houses with wall walls pierced by small openings, sometimes covered with pastel colors. Most of the doors of the houses are made of carved wood. It is interesting to note the existence of two different handles, one in a ring shape for women, the other, of elongated shape, reserved for men. Each issue issues a particular sound. In this way, women in the house can determine the sex of the person who is present at the door and in office, covering the head or not.
While most of the houses are in ruins and are no longer inhabited, some old buildings have been renovated. The nicest batisses built in the th century under the Qajar era are at the tip of the island along the coast. Three are of particular importance, the house Amiriyeh with its eight columns in front of the facade was a former government building, the house Goshan, and the house Taheri, now transformed into anthropological museum (closed on Mondays). Through rooms featuring music, eating habits, family of the native Bushehr, this is an opportunity to discover the culture and lifestyle of the Iranians on the coast. The English informative panels explain the history of the city and the region.
