HAVELOCK ISLAND BEACHES
Beaches on Havelock Island with numbers corresponding to those of the villages, Vijay Nagar, Beach no. 5, is the most famous.
Just like the villages, the beaches are numbered and as life is well done, the numbers of the beaches correspond to the numbers of the villages. The best way to get there is to rent a scooter and stroll along the many creeks on the eastern side or to steal some of the green of the rice fields by going to Radhanagar.
Beach n° 2 : between the Village n° 1 and the Village n° 3, the beach is only mangrove, where the children of the island play. This beach is not suitable for swimming, but you can enjoy a nice walk, especially at sunrise.
Govind Nagar Beach (Beach No. 3): it is located at the intersection of the road leading to the west coast. Many resorts are located on this beautiful beach.
Vijay Nagar Beach (Beach No. 5): the most famous beach of Havelock, bordered by many resorts and fringed with coconut trees and mahuas that act as natural umbrellas. Its turquoise waters and white sand make it an idyllic place to swim or enjoy some beach games.
Kalapathar Beach : this beach takes its name from the nearby village, perched in the jungle. Voted the most beautiful beach in Havelock by the Petit Futé, its deep turquoise waters, powdery sand, lush nature and low traffic make it the perfect place to bring back postcard photos to make your friends drool. The exact idea of a beach lost in the tropics.
Radhanagar Beach (Beach n° 7) : to reach the only beach on the west of the island, you have to travel 12 km from Village n° 1. Time Magazine voted it one of the most beautiful beaches in Asia. It must be said that this beach of fine sand, lined with coconut trees and shrubs casting a providential shade, is a bather's paradise. Huge - you won't be bothered by your towel neighbors -, lively with small and harmless rollers (except during the monsoon season, when the currents are powerful and dangerous) and perfect to admire the sunset. Going up the beach to the north, you will reach Neil's Cove, a small sandy cove of great beauty.
Elephant Beach: You can't get whiter than this beach. Located in the northwest of the island, it is accessible only by boat and attracts snorkelers. Its shallow corals attract multicolored fishes in abundance and its crystal clear waters make it a dream place to spin fish. Victim of its success, it is one of the only beaches that can be very crowded in high season.
