Luis Fernando "Bombillo" Vargas revived the tradition of masks in the township of Heredia by opening this traditional mascarada with his sons in 2000. He explains to tourists the process to make the figures in mâché paper and fibreglass (he made all those that you see in the village) and sell masks to those who want it. He also teaches all the folklore around this tradition, coming from Cartago originally: what the faces are, and the music and dances that accompany them.
