PRIEURÉ SAINT-HILAIRE DE COMMAGNY
A Commagny priory founded in the High Middle Ages, of which the prior's dwelling, rebuilt in the century, and a church remain.
Prieuré de Commagny is a former Benedictine priory founded in the 8th century by the Benedictines of Autun. All that remains today is the church of Saint Laurent, built on a cruciform plan in the 12th century. The prior's dwelling was rebuilt in the 16th century. Don't miss the nave of the church, with its beautiful panelled roof. The choir is also decorated with Lombardy bands. These motifs are very rare in the Nivernais region. The garden, like the adjoining cemetery, is surrounded by high walls.
