Overlooking a lush valley, 4 cosy, comfortable wooden rondavelles, each with its own veranda and private terrace with swimming pool, plunge into the surrounding nature. This is Eloïse and Samuel's home, where the two of them have designed everything with the utmost respect for the environment: from the aquaponics greenhouse to the mini-farm, not forgetting the fresh produce restaurant where everything is homemade. Nous sommes allés déjeuner chez Origin et cela a été une très belle expérience. Tout y est délicieux. Le décor tout d’abord, extrêmement soigné et plein de détails et de finitions bien pensés. La nourriture ensuite, tous les ingrédients sont frais, produits sur place ou dans les environs immédiats et cuisinés avec un grand savoir-faire et beaucoup de finesse. Les portions sont suffisamment copieuses et on est bien rassasié après un repas de 3 plats.
Le concept de quasi autarcie et circuit fermé est très intéressant. Quel travail !!!
Rien à redire, bon accueil, excellente cuisine, propreté irréprochable, décoration très agréable.
Une belle adresse pour déjeuner ou dîner. C’est un restaurant à part entière, ne pas s’arrêter au terme table d’hôte. Nous y reviendrons avec plaisir.
The lodges are made out of wood and they are very comfortable. You can enjoy your own private mini pool, a classy terrace and cosy bedrooms.
Petite carte mélangeant du typique Rodriguais et du moins local, mais tout était très bon, et copieux.
We had a lovely meal fully based on local fresh food (and by local I mean REALLY local: from their farm or even fished by the owner) but with a twist which makes it stand out from most of the restaurants of the island. Cuisine is still local, flavours are not lost, but you do get a refinement which can be a bit hard to find elsewhere in the island.
The owner’s very warm and explains the philosophy of their place: rain water which they filter and process on site for the restaurant and the 3 charming bungalows with swiming pool, and solar panels for the electricity. A farm to provide for the restaurant and their own needs, and a varying menu according to available products. Voilà, you can judge for yourselves.
Price-wise: you can’t go fresh & bio/eco and have a refined cuisine and expect to pay the same as in any other place. Price is higher, still quite below what you would pay for a similar meal in Europe (50€ for 2 persons, no constraints), but we loved the place, loved the taste, and loved the concept.
We will be back, next time for a stay in the bungalow! Thanks again, Eloise!
