I greatly underestimated the difference in an airboat tour in the Everglades and what we would experience in Louisiana! The nature lover in me fell head over heels for the marsh and swamp! But the experience of watching Captain Jeremy interacting with the wildlife was truly epic. The level of trust and maybe even some sort of voodoo magic gator whispering was breathtaking. Literal gasps by everyone on board when he caught a baby gator and a bull frog…and I’ll let the videos of the feeding and Gator kissing speak for themselves. What a beautiful respect and reverence between man and beast!
I cannot say enough good things about Captain Jeremy. His expert boat driving skills and knowledge of the wildlife, flora, fauna, and waterways was top notch.
I’m so glad we chose the 6:30 trip. We had plenty of daylight to see the wildlife and area and the dark ride back was the perfect way to end the night! Loved every minute!
Clean boat and updated equipment, they provided ear protection, so the loud sound of the fan did not bother any passengers
The alligators were like large puppies with Arthur, but he put on a great showing of the local wildlife!
Following are the reasons why this far exceeded our expectations:
1. First and foremost, Chad, our tour guide! I can't imagine anyone more knowledgeable than him about the swamps and its wildlife. He was born and raised in these settings, he says, and it shows! Whether in the water, in the marshes, on trees, or in the sky, nothing escapes Chad’s keen scan of the vistas as you go along. Hearing little nuggets of interesting information on the flora and fauna of the area made this quite worthwhile. Plus, he is just a cool fellow who knows how to engage kids and adults alike. And of course, the close encounters he gives with gators (baby ones in hands, and 13-footers sticking their jaws couple of feet right into the boat!) is likely much more up-close and intense than others I had checked into.
2. The swamps we toured, Chad said, is private land—which means no other commercial traffic of tour companies. We found those particular swamps to be pristine, with a good amount of diversity between riverways, marshland, trees, etc.
3. Going into this, we were debating between airboat versus a plain old flat bottom boat. The 50,000+ raving google reviews of the Cajun Encounters Tour Company was very tempting. But I am glad we chose an airboat tour instead! It is simply a next level experience compared to a simple boat ride, no matter how amazing the swamps may be or not. Just the speed of the airboat and the wind in your face is thrilling itself, but what makes it more cool is how it cuts through smoothly through dense marshland—giving a surreal experience of a boat ride on “land”.

Sensations garanties.
