ARAKAN VALLEY
Beautiful and yet unknown, the Araxe located only 150 km from Tabriz is an enchanting walk in the heart of a remote territory where time seems to have stopped. The old stone lovers will not find their happiness here, not a major historical site, but an enchanting landscape. The most surprising thing is the combination of landscape. The jiggling route between a fertile plains alternation, rocky peaks of a white hat or green hills. It was built along the Araxe River, a natural border successively with Azerbaijan, and then Armenia. If, today, the tourist can walk without worrying in this enchanting landscape a few years ago, this would not have been possible. The witnesses of a confrontation between Russians and Persians, incidentally, strew the road in the form of small forts, now guarded by the Iranian army. Geopolitics lovers will particularly appreciate the journey. In addition to the remnants of past frictions, it is particularly interesting to note the differences between the Iranian and Azerbaijani shores and Armenia. On the Iranian side, the villages gironde on the course are made up of houses of land and brick, such as the sublime village of Ahmadabad perched on steep rock about kilometres after Jolfa. On the opposite bank, the constructions are resolutely modern, recognizable by their white roof. Half way before the end of the road, lies the town of Noduz, a border post with Armenia theoretically open 24 hours a day. From there, two solutions. Close to the road, then rebifurquer towards Tabriz by the castle of Babak, about 300 km or go back to Jolfa.
