HOLYWELL RECREATION PARK
Go there and contact
Park with several hiking trails, picnic area, restaurant and bar, a pleasant place to visit.
Attached to the Blue Mountains National Park since 1993, the park suffered greatly from Hurricane Gilbert in 1988. Many trees perished in the storm, but an active reforestation plan has been put in place, which is beginning to bear fruit. In addition to a few hiking trails that promise great discoveries, the park has a picnic area that is very popular with Kingstonians on weekends. You can also camp here, provided you have brought your own equipment (otherwise wooden cabins can be rented for the night), with the permission of the rangers whose station is located at the entrance. The rangers inform visitors about possible walks from the park and can guide hikes. Recently a bar and restaurant opened here at the same hours as the park.
Hollywell Coffee Tour. There are two options: a 2.5 hour tour of a nearby plantation, or the Nature & Coffee Tour with a walk around the farm included.
Hollywell Nature Walks. To discover the Jamaican fauna and flora. If you want to observe birds in particular, you have to go to the reserve at 6 am (reservation required) and leave with a guide.
Gordon Town or Redlight Trail. Trails that go to the villages in the valley.
Blue Mountains Peak Hike. Hike about 9 km on a steep trail (about 4 hours) from Mavis Bank (on the other side of the mountain). There is an entrance fee to the park for the climb.
