This castle is the symbol of the city. From the top of its tower you have a panoramic view of the city. Built in 1585, during the Edo period and at the request of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, it was an important base for the Tokugawa clan. It was destroyed by bombing during the Second World War, then rebuilt in concrete in 1958. The surrounding garden, Momijidani, has 600 cherry trees. When it blooms in the spring, it becomes one of the most popular places in the city.
