CHAPELLE SAINTE-MARIE
Chapel with a baroque style façade, part of the Visitation monastery. Its esplanade hosts exhibitions.
The Chapel of St Mary was part of the Visitation Monastery, whose buildings were built in the 17th century. The first stone was laid by Duchess Louise-Marie de Gonzaga, future Queen of Poland, in June 1639. Of this monastery, only the chapel remains today, whose facade presents an astonishing baroque style, unique in the Nivernais, and rare in France. Its esplanade regularly serves as an exhibition space for local artistic associations. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful monuments of Nevers to be established!
