This little paradise is still little-known to many Nevers residents. Formerly known as "Le Poumon Vert", the Rosa-Bonheur park pays tribute to the animal artist, whose work includes the painting Labourage nivernais, (1849).
Walks and activities
Covering almost 3 hectares, the park offers 3 walking loops to discover the nature of the Loire Valley: from 1.5 to 3.2 km, the first of which is accessible to people with reduced mobility. You'll discover
the Baratte market gardens, the dragonfly pond, the wet meadow and the abandoned arboretum. The municipality has installed tables, wooden seats and deckchairs, and hopes in the long term to create a continuity with the Ver-Vert trail. Pontoons and belvederes will also highlight the charm of the banks of the Loire. You'll discover 3 orienteering trails in an ancient bocage at different levels, between 1.5 and 2.5 km. The town has also collaborated with the local Frisb'it association to create a unique Disc Golf course. With Frisbee in hand, young and old alike can enjoy this natural, outdoor sport.
Biodiversity in the spotlight
An exceptional place for biodiversity in Nevers, it links a network of natural spaces on the banks of the Loire. In 2017, the park was awarded the Refuge LPO (League for the Protection of Birds) label and welcomed 7 bird nesting boxes. As you stroll through the park, you'll discover signage - designed to raise awareness among the general public - highlighting local biodiversity, animal, plant and entomological.
