CASTLETON BOTANICAL GARDEN
Castleton Park, a sanctuary for almost 1,000 species of Jamaican flora, including species from the Indian Ocean.
This sanctuary of nearly 1,000 species of Jamaican flora can be discovered after a nice winding road. Created in 1862, from plants originating from the Kew Gardens in London, on the initiative of Lord Castleton who wanted to decorate his home, the 6 hectare park is a pure delight between giant ferns, bamboos, wild orchids, rare species such as the strychnos from which strychnine is extracted. Many species from the Indian Ocean, Reunion, Madagascar and India.
