ROCCA DEI ROSSI

This medieval fortress, later converted into a Renaissance residence, was the home of one of the most illustrious families of the region, the Rossi family. The interior of the castle is remarkable: all the rooms are covered with frescoes whose themes draw on Aesop's fables and classical mythology. Not to be missed: the Room delle Gesta Rossiane, entirely decorated with a pictorial cycle evoking the history of the Rossi family, and the Room del Asino d'Oro, with 17 painted scenes inspired by Apuleius' 2nd century work, the Metamorphoses.
