EAST INDIAN MUSEUM
A small museum, unique in the Caribbean region, presenting objects and musical instruments
In 1838, the first workers from the East Indies (Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia) arrived in the region to work in the sugar cane fields. The only one of its kind in the Caribbean region, this small museum is dedicated to their history, culture and heritage, through the presentation of objects and musical instruments. It's not the Louvre, of course, but it's well worth a detour to learn more about a population that is little recognized in the Caribbean, yet which has contributed to its development.
