KOCA-SINAN-PACHA MOSQUE
This mosque (Xhamia Koxha Sinan Pasha, Džamija Kadžha Sinana-paše) is all that remains of the complex built in 1594-1595 by Koca Sinan Pasha (1506-1596), a notable Muslim from a Catholic family in the Kukës region (Albania) who was five times Grand Vizier (Prime Minister) of the Ottoman Empire. It corresponds to the standard plan of Ottoman mosques in the Balkans: a cube topped by a large dome with a minaret and a porch covered with three domes. It has been altered many times, but still has a marble mihrab with a rare inscription in Albanian.
