GUANACASTE NATIONAL PARK
A small rainforest park with a 3.5 km trail and picnic areas
At the confluence of the Belize River and Roaring Creek, it's a tiny 20-hectare park, popular with Belmopan residents. The Belize River is typical of the importance of river navigation from Mayan times (remains of their presence have been found in the park) to the precious wood trade of colonial times. A small pontoon bridge on the river today allows you to observe the birds and even take a dip. Picnic areas are available. A nice place to stretch your legs and take a break on the road.
