FLORENCE GRISWOLD MUSEUM
Gallery with a collection of paintings by American artists, Florence Griswold's house, Chadwick's artist studio
The visit begins with the gallery, which presents a collection of impressionist paintings by American painters. Another point of major interest is the house of Florence Griswold. An artist stayed there in 1899 and returned the following year with fellow painters. Thus was born the artists' colony of Old Lyme. In the dining room, doors and walls were painted by the visiting boarders. The gardens are also worth a look. The visit ends with William Chadwick's artist studio, with its framing workshop.
