PICTURED ROCKS NATIONAL LAKESHORE

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore offers water activities, from swimming to snorkeling to diving.
Its reputation is based on its colourful sandstone cliffs, waterfalls (you must see Bridalveil Falls), natural rocky arches and sand dunes on the shores of Lake Superior. In addition to the natural beauty of the park, there are also maritime sites such as the Au Sable lighthouse station, the coast guard station in Munising and Grand Marais and even remnants of wrecks on the park shore.
Of course, water activities are popular, ranging from swimming to snorkeling and scuba diving. If you feel like going out to sea, be aware that it can be dangerous to venture into the waters of Lake Superior and that only sea kayaks are stable enough for this activity. You must be experienced and have your own equipment. You can also fish, hunt, hike (160 km of trails) or cycle (on the roads only, prohibited on the trails), not to mention winter activities (cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice climbing, winter camping...). Finally, guided tours on foot, by sea kayak or by boat are available during the summer months.
There are three tent campsites, two near Lake Superior and one on the shores of Little Beaver Lake ("first come, first served" principle). Backcountry camping is permitted and a permit is required. Be aware that there are campgrounds and other accommodation options in the area.
