CHIESA DI SAN NICOLÒ
Romanesque church founded between the 7th and 9th centuries, whose two naves, of equal importance, end in two apses.
The Romanesque church of San Nicolò is located at the highest point of the village and was founded between the 7th and 9th centuries on the remains of an ancient pagan temple dedicated to Glauco (god of the sea and protector of sailors). Modified several times and then fortified during the Renaissance, the building is known for its 15th and 16th century frescoes. But its main characteristic is the two naves, of equal importance, ending in two apses: a particularly rare architectural element, which makes the building unique in the whole Tuscan archipelago.
