ANELLO DI PIETRA MURATA
Itinerary in loop of 6 km crossing ancient granite quarries, and leading to the Sassi Ritti, the "Stonehenge" of the island.
This route passes through granite quarries that were still active a few decades ago. Along the way, the view of Sant'Ilario, the tower of San Giovanni and the south of the island sharpens the spirits. Then go up towards the Piane del Canale where a forest track stretches out. After the Moncione ditch, the path becomes more uneven. Near an old goat enclosure, follow the sign for Pietra Murata. Surrounded by dense scrubland, you face large stone blocks with strange shapes: this is the enigmatic site of the Sassi Ritti, the "Stonehenge" of the Elba.
